What Are the Differences in Poker Games?

pokerIf you are not familiar with casino games, you can be forgiven for thinking that there is only one type of poker – you could not be more wrong.

Poker is not so much a game, but a blanket term for a number of games that all fall under the poker category. The best-known form of poker is Texas Hold’em, which sees each player compete against each other. Another form of the game is Casino Stud Poker, which sees players compete exclusively against the dealer.

Both of the games feature as part of our fun casino hire package, where our team of experienced croupiers will guide you through the rules as you play.

Casino Stud Poker

This form of poker is where inexperienced players should head toward. Regarded as the friendlier form of poker, players compete exclusively against the dealer, and not against each other.

In this game, the objective is to simply outscore the dealer, whose cards only qualify if they hold an Ace, King or higher. If they don’t, then all ante bets are paid out to the players, making this one of the more welcoming variants of the casino favourite.

Texas Hold’em

Texas Hold’em Poker is the form of the game that you are most likely to be familiar with, as this is the variant that is played all around the world. Professional tournaments are highly popular in the United States, with experienced players facing off against each other.

Worry not though, because, with our fun casino hire packages, all games are played purely for fun. Texas Hold’em, unlike Casino Stud Poker, sees all players around the tables competing against one another instead of the dealer.

The objective is simple – win the pot by achieving the best hand possible from the seven cards you are dealt. Bets are placed following each hand and an overall winner is potentially decided by ‘the showdown’ at the end of the game unless all other players have folded.

Still Unsure?

If you are still not completely comfortable with the rules of poker, or with any of the other games that come as part of our services, you are in safe hands. Our experienced and professional croupiers will walk you through each passage of the game, explaining the rules as you go along, ensuring that all guests enjoy themselves.
